dump truck + no brakes + steep hill =

Automotive, Life, by Justin Ong.

I left work early today as I’m not feeling well — it took me an hour to get home, and this is why.

Normally I don’t bother uploading my photos, but I’m still in awe.  Seeing an accident in person like this makes a real impact.  This happened on Manor @ Palmetto — just a handful of blocks from my house.

From what I gathered, the dump truck was half way up Manor, lost it’s brakes and careened into the intersection.

  1. Did you take the pics with the G9 – those are some good shots. Good thing no one drive through the Walgreens, that would be unfortunate =/

  2. They were taken with my Canon G9. It was hard to get good photos with the way the sun was shining, but I think they turned out OK.

  3. Great pics – thanks for sharing. I live in the Manor district & have been hoping for some follow up on this story. The driver claimed he had no brakes for about a mile, which would include the much steeper, narrower section of Manor up the hill. How did he manage to avoid hitting cars until he passed 7-11. And what was up with the non-working horn? Is that connected to the brakes? Wouldn’t have helped much, but still. Was a miracle no pedestrians were in the intersections & no one was seriously hurt or killed.
