Chicken Fried Bacon

January 28, 2007

As many of you know, one of my favorite phrases is.. everything tastes better with bacon. I mean, how could you go wrong? Anything that’s bacon wrapped is instantly delicious. Hot dogs, filet mignon, scallops.. but well, for the first time ever, I’ve actually been disgusted by a show touting a tasty treat. This is one bacon dish I don’t think I’d ever sample!

I, for one, welcome our new Wii Powered overlords

January 26, 2007

In case you don’t get the reference in the title.

News announcer Kent Brockman mistakes a floating ant in a space shuttle experiment floating close to the camera for a giant space ant:

“Ladies and gentlemen, uh, we’ve just lost the picture, but what we’ve seen speaks for itself. The Corvair spacecraft has apparently been taken over — ‘conquered’ if you will — by a master race of giant space ants. It’s difficult to tell from this vantage point whether they will consume the captive earth men or merely enslave them. One thing is for certain: there is no stopping them; the ants will soon be here. And I for one welcome our new insect overlords. I’d like to remind them that as a trusted TV personality, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves.”

Chinese teen kills self when blind date turns ugly — report

Agence France-Presse
Last updated 04:40pm (Mla time) 01/05/2007

BEIJING — A 17-year-old boy in northeastern China was so disappointed with the looks of a woman he met over the Internet that he hanged himself after seeing her face-to-face, state media reported Friday.

The unnamed teenager first contacted the woman — known by her chat moniker “Qunjiaofeiyang”, or “Flying Skirt” — using the popular Chinese online messaging software QQ, Xinhua news agency said.

The girl described herself as a beautiful 19-year-old and the pair chatted on the Web for weeks before arranging a December 26 rendezvous in the nearby city of Mudanjiang, in far northeastern Heilongjiang province.

The boy arrived to discover the woman far less attractive than advertised and 10 years older than him, Xinhua said.

The boy immediately returned home, lost his appetite, and four days later hanged himself from a tree.

Here’s footage from last year’s attempt.

Neo*Geo Cartridges For Sale.. finally.

January 17, 2007

I know I’ve been talking about it for quite a while, but I’ve finally posted my Neo*Geo games for sale. It’s sad because this is where I misspent my youth. As soon as I got my first job I whittled away my earnings into these bits of plastic and silicon. I did have a lot fun putting the collection together, but after it became obvious that I’d never complete it, I gave up. The remaining games that I needed to purchase would easily top $5,000. If you’re curious about following the sale, I put together a quick site for keeping track of it.

Collecting games definitely became an obsession, and I apologize for the stupidity and the relationships I may have jeopardized along the way.

Same goes with my cars. I might even post my 1995 Mazda RX-7 for sale next. What the heck.. here is a feeler ad. (-_-)

January Birthdays

January 15, 2007

A lot of birthdays this month. Stan, Lily, Chairman Lau, and Ben’s (not pictured) birthdays were celebrated with mountains of food, alcohol and good cheer. I’m not exactly sure what is going on here or here. Especially here. Anyway, a rather large gallery is available here.

I can’t tell whether Dr. Octopus or Spiderman are winning, but the Operator wins with an icecream cake!

Obviously a few people in this picture are drunk.. I think.

Technolust (^_^)//

January 11, 2007

Just a few days after I receive my new Nokia 8801, Apple Inc. (they changed their name) has to release the iPhone. This always happens, every time I buy a new gadget something enormously better gets released. My iPhone envy even coerced me into customizing my phone. At least I can pretend to have one until I can get my grubby paws onto the real thing. I will not be switching back to Cingular just to be able to purchase one, however.

I haven’t been a Mac user for *that* long, in fact, I just built myself and my parents a couple computers, but I drank the kool-aid and well, there isn’t really a reason to cling onto a PC any longer. Too bad I didn’t decide on this just six months ago. I could have gotten my parents an AppleTV instead of building them a custom Linux box, and saved quite a bit. So much for the “Apple is overpriced” meme. If you think you can resist Steve Job’s reality distortion field, watch this video and tell me you’re not impressed.

I registered for a private Microsoft Vista launch preview at the Moscone Center. We’ll see if they can lure me back with free swag or wow me with some kind of must have feature. Apparently Vista is so heinous that a campaign to prevent it’s adoption has been launched. With Linux finally gaining some traction I think it’s time for Microsoft to be worried.

Even the mainstream media is catching on.. LOL.
